These breeds have been crossbred with other cattle to improve heat tolerance and productivity.

Zebu are herbivores and ruminants, meaning they have a four-chambered stomach that allows them to digest fibrous plant material such as grass. They graze on natural pastures and can survive on lower-quality forage than many other cattle breeds. This ability makes them particularly important in regions where high-quality feed is scarce.

Culturally, zebu cattle are highly significant in many societies. In India, for example, they are often associated with religious traditions and are treated with respect and care. They may also play roles in festivals and traditional ceremonies.

Economically, zebu contribute to food security and rural livelihoods. Their adaptability, strength, and low maintenance needs make them a reliable resource for farmers in developing countries.
